I've got an invitation from a girl who claims she lives in the so-called Lugansk People's Republic in Eastern Ukraine. I've already had female friends in Donetsk People's Republic and Crimea, so is it worth to add Lugansk to my collection of the girls from breakaway regions?

Great. I just got a job offer from one U.S. business journal. The only obstacle is, the job is in Kiev. I wildly love that city, and many of my most romantic dates had happened there. So I'll definitely move there - in ten-year time or so.

Local friend of Max invited him to his home, so I had to meet the boy's mother. Svetlana lives in Yalta since her birth in that haunted house and she is a professional serviceperson, Prior to 2014, she served in Ukrainian Armed Force, afterward in Russian forces.
-Isn't it too difficult choice for a serviceperson to change a flag? - I asked.
-Well, not everyone around is Savchenko. If Russia refused someone's application to join its army, this is not because they didn't want to betray Ukraine but mostly because their experience has been useless for the Russian army, - she said.

Why there are dining cars in the trains but no gym cars? After a night in the train I'd rather do surja namaskar than have breakfast! My mobile operator MTS just sent me a "Welcome to Ukraine" message, which is too pro-active, as we are still at the Russian territory, though at its very edge.

While waiting for a bus me and Max found a refuge from heat in a nearby souvenir shop. The shop assistant, a pretty woman of unclear ethnicity, Crimean native, saw a Canadian flag at my backpack, gestured me to follow her in a back room and displayed the memorabilia hidden from the strangers' eyes: Ukrainian symbols, including a badge with Ukrainian and Canadian flags tied together. She complained that after annexation of Crimea by Russia life has become worse: the salaries remained nearly the same while prices hiked, and no one dares to complain or protest fearing accusations of separatism. She said her family was not aware about the 2014 referendum until the results were announced: "perhaps, the voting took place in Simferopol but here in Haspra no one has heard about it".

All the way from Simfi to Yalta we were riding under a huge double rainbow, this was Crimea welcoming its new visitors. There are more Ukrainian signs in Crimea then in Kiev, from road signs to price tags in the shops. My son is philological lacmus strip. During two hours in Crimea he asked me to translate the signs in foreign language a dozen of times.

I should finally reveal the secret information on why Russia has annexed Crimea, now I may do that.
Mu junior son had been asking for a long time to show him Homeric sites, like Chersonese ans Zeus temple on Darsan Hill in Yalta. But his mother paranoidally refuses to give him permission for travels abroad. While Crimea was a part of Ukraine, it was impossible for me to make my son's dream true.
In early 2014 I wrote a letter to Putin asking him to help me to solve that problem. I meant he could hint his friends in the Border Service that they would not stop my son on the border. But Putin, obviously, has understood my request differently. As a result, we've got what we've got.
True or false, now me and my son fly to Crimea without asking permission from anyone.

Kicking up our hills celebrating pirate-style 6th birthday of my junior son. This is the second time ever the entire Serebryany's family gets together. And the next morning I have to defreeze my frige and rush to work in the office urgently, because of the two-day blackout in the building, like in besieged city of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine.

At the fourth year of my going in to yoga I eventually managed to pass a dosha test to find out what I've known well before. One girl during today's class broke her shoulder while attempting to take suta bandhasana. After the classes, I consumed a double cheeseburger with small fries in McDuck, solely as a protest against Putin regime's actions in Ukraine, and also I removed a virus from my flash stick and got 30 MB of traffic as a bonus. Besides, I was the only male at both yoga classes and pre-school parents' gathering. I am a real man, one you can;t get for love or money, I've got the ground to be proud of myself.

I celebrate my birthday at home of my friends-colleagues. The family couple just came back to Canada from Ukraine, so out party becomes a political discussion about if it is appropriate to compare Putin to Hitler and if yes, who of them two takes the prize.

I've been to the town of Tarusa the third time in my life, am I inferior to the Russian poets and writers Tsvetayeva, Akhmadullina and Paustovsky who all lived here? Also I purcahsed a sealed pack of three briefs but I would harldy ever wear them. First, the size is smaller than I need. Second, they are made from artificial material. Third, they are decorated with the word UKRAINE. So if I wear it, someone may confuse me with Bandera gang member.

In Belorussia everyone gets crazy over ice hockey world cup. In Minsk, I'm having a dinner in a public canteen №12 (salad, mushroom soup, fishburger with buckwheat, two slices of bread, tea cost $5.50), and two Finns and two Belorussians seat at the next table loudly discussing the recent games. Naturally, they soon move to discussion of politics. The Belorussian shouts: Why in Europe you don;t say truth about Ukraine? Finns: This is not true! We've got the most free speech society in Europe! Belorussian: My mother-in-law lives in Zaporozhe, my wife lives in Riga, why in both countries they've switched off Russian TV channels? Are they afraid to show the truth?
I haven't listened to how these arguments finished, as usually they finish either with fist fighting (royals last resort) or with offer to share a drink. But I've finished my fishburger and left.
By the way, the airport in Minsk is located nearly in the city's downtown. If it were in Moscow, Sheremetyevo would be located at the VDNKh.

I woke up today with two rather strange desires: 1) To support Putin's policy on annexation of the Eastern Ukraine; 2) To contribute into greenhouse gases reduction. Obviously, I shouldn't sleep so much. Also, using the so-called "air baloon principle" (if you want to acsend, throw away everything you don't need), I unfriended ten more idling friends in Facebook.

I found myself involved into a looming international Russia-Ukraine-China diplomatic scandal over an article on Russia-West relations a Ukrainian newspaper has republished from a Chinese media. Though I have nothing to do with that article, the enraged experts call me, for some reason, demanding to verify if that article was actually published or this was a fake staged by the Ukrainians. And I have not a faintest idea what that article is about, because at that very moment I was buying a mop, wallpaper glue and a piece of cheese. Now I gonna find out with my colleague, what the hell is going on...

My mother made a stop-over in Moscow on her way from Volgograd to Rome. She told me that situation in Ukraine is tragic only in the Russian media, while for the majority of the common people life is as usual. My life is also as usual: despite I've got temperature 38 C, I'm running as hell, sweating, doing chores ahead of the March 8 (personally, I consider that Women's holiday a sheer hypocricy; but I've got to keep my opinion down - friendship is superior to the political discords). As I am buying a gift, I ask a migrant shop assistante to pack it in a cupboard box, and she replies patriotically: "We only have Russia-made boxes, so they all are ugly". On the run, I pierce a sole, wet my foot, bring a shoe to a car service for vulcanization (in the end of the day, tires are the shoes too, just of a different profile). Paid 200 RR ($5.55). Besides, I've paid $1.5 for an iTwister in the KFC, its price rose by $0.34 overnight! That's too sad. One more misfortune is, the OZON.RU internet shop informed it has been unable to implement my order for the Canada book and offered to cancel it.

I've received a second award for my wit during a week . First one was from Facebook which has awarded me for the best gag about ousted Ukrainian president Victor Yanukovich. Today a Canadian The Toronto Star has published my Big Idea on how to make my beloved (and pretty ugly) Toronto a better place to live. Meanwhile, my female friend from Sevastopol writes me in Skype about horrors of Russian occupation in Crimea. And I was offered a full-time job in one Russian media after writing an article about situation in Crimea.

Today I don't have to run to Chertanovo, so I'm dressing like a middle classer. The only thing that spoils my appearence is my hippie-style sack, but I carry a rag and trainers for yoga in there. On my way to the factory I've bought a doxen of panckaes to celebrate Russian spring festivel (Maslenitsa) with my colleagues, both local and foreign. Also I learnt that Facebook awarded me for the best joke about ousted Ukrainian president V. Yanukovich.

Lena and I are watching Ukraine's TV 5 Channel and drinking Ukrainian Obolon beer as a sign of support of brotherly Ukrainian people I have direct connection via mother's side. In the morning we hanged a bird feeder in the park, though we'd rather hang Ukrainian fled president Yanukovich.

I found Chernigov a town of medium filth - it was better kept than Tambov but less tidy than Oryol. Mingled with the locals. An archer wearing the trousers the width of the Black Sea explained me why the bows were not equipped with pointing devices. A woman saying she was 42 (but looked like being in her 60s) complained she could not bear her third child and asked which pills she needed to use to get pregnant. In a cafe, an American named Mark joined me and told he has been waiting for the Russian visa here. We chatted with him on the topics the expats usually chat when coming across abroad (Putin's blood-thirsty regime, life of the aboriginal people, job hunt for us the foreigners in the third-world countries like Russia and Ukraine).

Fot the year and a half since my previous visit to Kiev very little has changed there. I walked from the railway station to the river boat station, fighting with temptation to start a day in the Ukrainian capital in a MacDuck, and finally had breakefast in the same cafe I ate in the fall 2010. Deja-vu.
On the walls the new graffitti have appeared: "Ulianka, you are beautiful" (in Ukrainian), "Judge Kireev, you are not alone" (in Russian), "(President) Yanukovich a fag" (in both).
