В числе достоинств гостевого дома "Боровск" - туалетный освежитель воздуха с ароматом миндаля. Гостиница выглядит слегка out of place и вызывает когнитивный диссонанс. Снаружи отель похож на заброшенный автосервис: некрашенные стены и тд. Внутри же - роскошь через край: золото, золото, золото, даже краны и унитазы. Дизайн в стиле мечты новых русских начала 1990х. Но если не придираться к кичевому оформлению, на всё прочее грех жаловаться. Единственный минус: в стоимость номера не входит завтрак.

One of the merits in the Borovsk Hotel is an almond-fragrance toilet air freshener. The hotel looks slightly out of place and causes cognitive dissonance. From the outside the hotel looks like a defunct car service station with non-painted walls etc. But inside there is over-the-limit luxury: gold covered with gold and surrounded by gold. Even taps and bowls in the washrooms are golden - the design of 1990s "new Russian" style. Still if one doesn't pay attention to the kitch design, everything the rest is okay. The only demerit is that the breakfast is not included into the price. 

Сегодня исполнилось ровно пять лет, как пришел работать в структуру МИД РФ. Так долго (9 лет) я работал только на Би-би-си. Ну а поскольку на этой работе меня постоянно просят работать поменьше, провожу время в медитациях и возне с детьми. И вообще, зачем мне посещать "Этномир" - у меня этномир на работе!















It turned five years today since the day when I have started to work in the Russian Foreign Ministry structure. For such a long time (9 years) I worked only for the BBC. And since at this job I am repeatedly asked to work less, I spned time meditating and playing with children. And I don't even have to visit EthnoWorld village, as I've got the ethnic world at work!

Третий раз в жизни побывал в Тарусе - чем я хуже Цветаевой, Ахмадуллиной и Паустовского, которые ту жили? Также купил набор трусов в запечатанной упаковке. Так мало того, что они мне оказались малы и что они сделаны из синтетики, так еще у них на пояске написано UKRAINE. Этак меня, гляди, за бандеровца примут.

I've been to the town of Tarusa the third time in my life, am I inferior to the Russian poets and writers Tsvetayeva, Akhmadullina and Paustovsky who all lived here? Also I purcahsed a sealed pack of three briefs but I would harldy ever wear them. First, the size is smaller than I need. Second, they are made from artificial material. Third, they are decorated with the word UKRAINE. So if I wear it, someone may confuse me with Bandera gang member.

У меня сегодня такой уютный 12-часовой рабочий день, включивший как ряд ынтырвью на местности и в РИА Новости, так и поход в банк и гипермаркет. Можно сказать, что рабочий день не прекращается с воскресенья, когда мне пришлось заниматься работой сидя на катере, который вез нас с Леной по Оке с тульского берега на калужский. Из плюсов - посетили миленькую такую Тарусу, побултыхались вдоволь в реке, а я также смог поговорить с Максимом через забор дачи.

Today I've got a cozy 12-hour working shift which comprises several interviews in RIA Novosti and in the streets, visits to a bank and hypermarket. I could say my shift has not been interrupted since Sunday when I had to do business phone calls from a speedboat while gliding on the Oka river from its Tula bank to Kaluga one. The positive side is, me and Lena visited the nice town of Tarusa, swam plenty in Oka, and also I could talk to my son Max through the cottage fence. 

Это место - Музей Космонавтики в Калуге - знают наверное все, кто когда-либо покупал спички Балабановской фабрики. А для меня это было первое место самостоятельного путешествия, году в 1983-м.  С тех пор не могу остановиться.

I guess everyone who has ever bought matches of the Balabanovo factory, knows the Cosmonautics Museum in the city of Kaluga, because it was portrait on their boxes. But for me, this was the first destination of my independent travel happened in 1983. Cannot stop ever since...

Добрались через 4-часовую пробку и разбитое шоссе в парк "Этномир", и оно того стоило. Такая Канада в миниатюре: вместе собраны почти все страны мира, для детей и экуменистов - просто рай. Всё можно трогать, мастер-классы по национальным ремеслам, ну и приятно удивили цены в кафе. А еще меня пригласили в Канадский Дом поработать "носителем культуры" на фестивалях этим летом.

Through 4-hour traffic jam and bumpy roads we've made it to the EthnoWorld Park, and the game worth the candle. It's like miniature Canada: nearly all countries have been gathered in  one place, and a visitor may touch everything, attend classes for national crafts - great for kids and travel freaks like me. Also, the prices in a cafe here are quite affordable. Besides, the park's administration offered me to work as a "culture holder" in the Canada House during the summer.

С турбазы "Вятичи" в Калужской области перебрался на турбазу "Боровое" в Московской области.  Также сюда приехали мой старший сын с его женой и дочкой, которые занялись столь же полезным, сколь бессмысленным делом: очисткой леса от мусора, который оставляет после себя местное быдло. Тропинка вокруг оз. Боровое перегорожена колючей проволокой, сколько людей здесь ночью выкололо глаза?

I moved from a summer camp in Kaluga region to another summer camp in Moscow region. My senior son, his wife and their baby daughter have also come here. They engaged themselves into a business as useful as senseless: cleanin the lake's beaches from trash the local human trash leaves. A path along the lake is cut by a barbed wire, so I wonder how many people have poked their eyes out here?
