In Belorussia everyone gets crazy over ice hockey world cup. In Minsk, I'm having a dinner in a public canteen №12 (salad, mushroom soup, fishburger with buckwheat, two slices of bread, tea cost $5.50), and two Finns and two Belorussians seat at the next table loudly discussing the recent games. Naturally, they soon move to discussion of politics. The Belorussian shouts: Why in Europe you don;t say truth about Ukraine? Finns: This is not true! We've got the most free speech society in Europe! Belorussian: My mother-in-law lives in Zaporozhe, my wife lives in Riga, why in both countries they've switched off Russian TV channels? Are they afraid to show the truth?
I haven't listened to how these arguments finished, as usually they finish either with fist fighting (royals last resort) or with offer to share a drink. But I've finished my fishburger and left.
By the way, the airport in Minsk is located nearly in the city's downtown. If it were in Moscow, Sheremetyevo would be located at the VDNKh.
