Позвонила мне одна знакомая и радостно сообщила, что она беременна и вот-вот уже родит. Не пугайтесь, не от меня.  Дело в том, что моя знакомая - китаянка, закончившая тамошний аналог МГИМО, и я вот думаю: как-будто в мире и без нее так мало китайцев, что эта девушка вместо того, чтобы делать карьеру, зарабатывать большие юани, становиться начальницей, предпочла тихое материнское счастье. Может быть, именно поэтому китайцев так много, что до них феминизм еще не докатился - или они еще до феминизма не докатились. 

A female friend of mine telephones me and tells she is pregnant and expecting soon. Don't worry, I have nothing to do with it. The thing is, my firend is Chinese graduate of their Institute of International Affairs. And I'm thinking: as if there are so few Chinese around that she, instead of making her career, earning big yuans, growing through the professional ranks, has preffered quiet family happiness. Perhaps this is exactly the reason why there are so many Chinese in the world - because feminism has not yet conquerred China. Or, on the opposite, because the Chinese still have not descended to feminism.
